I’ve known Jessica since high school and recently got back in touch with her through work. Jessica and Ryan really wanted to do an outdoor session, and thankfully we had some really mild December weather! My absolute favorite from the session is the first one you see here – such a beautiful momma. <3
Allison and Kevin were married already when they contacted us about doing their wedding photography. At first, we weren’t sure what to expect – will this just be a reception party, or will there be a ceremony? WELL, this was one of the best, most intimate, beautiful ceremonies we’ve ever experienced – and they were already married! Due to an overseas move, they never had the chance to have an actual wedding. And we were so happy to capture these moments for them.

I have been dying to do a winter-themed inspiration shoot.
Yes, I really want to do some other themes too, but there’s something that I love about winter.
So I recently met up with Elizabeth Mundy, owner of Splendor Weddings & Events in Charlotte. She was really excited to work with me on setting up a winter themed shoot, and we decided to go with a Winter Rustic theme that incorporated lots of browns, greens, silvers, whites, and maple syrup! That’s right, the guest favors are teeny little bottles of yummy syrup – the taste you associate with winter. We found a fabulous event space called The Loft at 14th in Concord, NC (just north of Charlotte) that has beautiful wood floors and exposed brick walls. A local baker, The Sweet Life, supplied the cake, which was the central focus of an amazing dessert bar. The bar was complete with Hershey’s Kisses, Jordan Almonds, and ROCK CANDY! I absolutely love rock candy, and its icy features were perfect for our Winter theme. The guest book consisted of your all-time favorite childhood winter toy – a Flexible Flyer wooden and metal sled! We hope you enjoy!
I was excited for Lauren + Van’s wedding journey from the first day I met them. You can tell just by the way they look at each other that they are deeply in love. It was no different when I showed up at Morning Glory Farm to do their engagement photos. They’ll be getting married at this venue on October 18, 2014 (the day after my own 5 year anniversary – love October weddings!) and it is going to be fabulous!
We met Meghan & Jason at a small little bridal fair on the coldest May day that North Carolina has ever seen. Thankfully, they braved the weather with us and a couple weeks later we met them again to discuss their wedding. They’ll be having a Friday wedding in April at The Big Chill in Charlotte NC. They requested getting some photos in downtown, so we tried out the new Romare-Bearden Park that is right across from the (under construction) baseball stadium. I was glad that they were good sports about meeting there at 8am on a Sunday, because we got some fantastic shots just as the sun was starting to peek around the buildings. Later, we went over to Freedom Park.
I recently had the wonderful opportunity of doing newborn portraits for my dear friends – Lindsay & Jeff. We photographed their wedding a couple years ago, and are so happy that we were asked to do portraits of their newborn daughter, Ellison Lulie “Ellie.” The nursery they designed is absolutely adorable and incorporates their love of literature and learning, which is certainly important to this family of teachers. My favorite part of their nursery theme is the first photo you see here…enjoy!

We seriously can’t say enough about how much FUN it was to have a photobooth at Katherine & Seth’s wedding! The bride, groom, and their guests were a blast and it is always super fun to watch everyone dress up with crazy props and have a good time!
Here are a few that include behind-the-scenes !
And finally, here’s the bride and groom getting in on the photobooth action!
Katherine chose to do her bridal session at The Hotel Concord, which we were ecstatic about since it is a fantastic venue! The Hotel Concord is a historic hotel in downtown Concord, NC, built in the early 1900s. The tile floor is amazing, and so are the huge windows in the ballroom – take a look!
Katherine chose the photo below for her traditional bridal portrait that was on display at the reception. True Southern Style. <3
Every girl needs a twirly picture…
We also hopped over to Central United Methodist Church (Katherine & Seth’s ceremony location) to snag a couple photos with the columns.
